NorWest Community Health Centres developed a FASD Caregiver program to help parents of children with FASD deal with the many stressors they were experiencing. This was later expanded to support caregivers of adults or partners with FASD.
The program focuses on providing caregivers with an understanding of what FASD is, how it manifests in an individual at various stages of life and providing strategies. The program also provides self-care strategies for caregivers to prevent burnout. The 8 week program reduces social isolation that caregivers often feel.
