The Care Bus is a mobile warming and transportation service run by NorWest CHC in partnership with the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre (TBIFC).  The Care Bus is staffed by Harm Reduction Outreach Workers and provides the following services:

  • Mobile warming centre
  • Transportation (flexible route)
  • Access to Harm Reduction Outreach Workers
  • Food and water
  • Winter clothing (hats, mitts, socks, emergency blankets, hand warmers)
  • Harm Reduction Supplies (Naloxone, safer injection kits, safer smoking kits, safer sex kits, drug testing packages, and basic wound care packages)
  • Education about harm reduction, general health and well being, and local resources
  • Connections to local services (food, emergency shelter, health services, detox and treatment) as we are able

The Care Bus will run from Monday, December 2, 2024 and until the end of March 2025.  The bus runs seven days a week from 1pm to 9pm.  The Care Bus cell phone number is (807) 630-8631, which will connect you directly with a Harm Reduction Outreach Worker during bus hours.
