Harm Reduction

Through a harm reduction model, Norwest Community Health Centers employs both structurally educated professionals and professionals with lived experience to preform care and services in the Thunder Bay district, meeting the vulnerable populations where they are.

Through a lens of compassion and understanding, as many of our harm reduction workers lived difficult lives similar to that of our most vulnerable clientele. Our harm reduction workers work together with the client by having the client lead their own care with the ultimate goal of achieving positive health outcomes and improved quality of life for the client. By connecting clients to our wide umbrella of services under the Community Health Centre model, working together as an interdisciplinary team.

Our vending machine contains harm reduction supplies and is located on our property. Free tokens are available at Path 525, Grace Place, Thunder Bay District Health Unit, Shelter House and People Advocating for Change through Empowerment.
